Jewelry Artist Samantha McGovern designs and creates a unique and intuitive style of art jewelry. Living in a beautiful mountain environment has inspired her to create original designs reflecting nature's wonderful lake, sky and landscape colors.  History and folklore are also a rich medium for her inspiration.

She credits her husband and family for the recent launching of her own company, Fencing Dragons Studios. “They have encouraged my creative efforts throughout my life.  I grew up in an artistic environment.  I love following my own creative spirit."

Samantha studied art in college and has continued to study art and jewelry making ever since. She spent the last eighteen years working in the visual effects industry as a compositor on films such as The Lord of the Rings: Two Towers and Peter Pan.

Her love of jewelry making started long before she decided to launch Fencing Dragons Studios.

"I made my first real piece of jewelry when I was eight years old and my father taught me how to use his welding torch. He handed me goggles, gloves, and pointed to the pile of scrap metal in the corner. Everyday I would go to his workshop and make new
pieces.

The passion to create which began in my childhood is still with me today.

A couple of years ago, I learned of a revolutionary new material called Precious Metal Clay. I discovered I could use my sculpting skills to create incredible pure silver and gold jewelry. There is absolutely nothing so sensuous as creating, and shaping beautiful artwork with my hands.“
